Are you looking to enhance and develop your skills and knowledge to progress your career in conservation? The RSPB's North Kent Marshes team are looking for an enthusiastic conservationist with a passion for wildlife to help deliver for nature across four reserves on the Hoo Peninsula; Northward Hill, Cliffe Pools, Higham Marshes and Shorne Marshes.

The reserves consist of a wide variety of habitats; grazing marsh, saline and brackish lagoons, woodland, scrub and reedbeds. These habitats hold a variety of breeding birds such as Lapwing, Nightingale, and Marsh harrier, plus water voles, hares and scarce invertebrates. 

The successful applicant will undertake a range of habitat management and species monitoring activities across the suite of reserves in North Kent.  This would be a great role for somebody starting out in their conservation career and will enhance and develop your skills and knowledge.

Key areas of work will include:

• Practical habitat management.
• Leading a team of volunteers.
• Species and habitat surveys.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety and agricultural compliance.
• Maintenance of machinery to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.
• Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including neighbours, graziers, Reserve Ecologists etc.

• Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for nature.
• A well organised approach to work.
• Knowledge of conservation land management.
• Knowledge of ecological surveys and monitoring.
