Applications for the position of ASSISTANT to the Neotropics Training Program of the Environmental Leadership & Training Imitative (ELTI) will be accepted effective immediately. ELTI is a joint program of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) whose mission is to enhance environmental management and leadership capacity in the tropics by offering capacity-building opportunities to individuals whose actions and decisions influence and determine how tropical forests are managed.
Location of position: Earl Tupper Center, Ancón, Panamá
Major duties and responsibilities:
Develop standard logistics management plan for ELTI’s training events throughout the Neotropics.
Modify and add customization to plans according to different regions and training event needs.
Prepare all necessary equipment, materials and supplies for training events.
Prepare and manage the budgets and maintain control of the expenses of the training events.
Support the Training Program Coordinator with curricular development of training events.
Scope and ensure safety and quality of all transportation modes, accommodation, and food services to be hired during training events.
Maintain control of all equipment, material and supplies during the training events.
Manage all training event related logistical needs.
Support the Training Program Coordinator in the identification and selection of training event locations and travel routes taking into consideration safety, access to health care centers, etc.
Develop contingency and emergency plans for training event routes, accidents, and other foreseeable risks.
Manage post-training event logistics.
Prepare and/or deliver short talks about relevant environmental issues and/or lead field trips, when possible.
Support the Training Program Coordinator to produce training events reports and proceedings.
