Under the supervision of the Nachusa Grasslands Project Director and Restoration Ecologist, the Restoration Steward will work on prairie and savanna management and restoration in the Middle Rock Project Area at the following three natural areas: 3,100-acre Nachusa Grasslands, 1,000-acre Franklin Creek Natural Area, and 66-acre Pine Rock Nature Preserve near Dixon, IL. Restoration work will include removal of invasive brush and trees with chainsaws and application of herbicides. Restoration Steward will also help with prescribed fire. Other duties may include fence removal, equipment repair, and mapping.
