Your enthusiasm for working with local communities will help you protect and conserve a series of Open Spaces owned and managed by the City of London Corporation which include important habitats and historic landscapes situated on the North Downs. This is an exciting opportunity to share information with local people about wood pasture, chalk downland, veteran trees, woodlands and wetland features, as well as our conservation management and grazing.

The salary is £19,150 to £21,600. with an expectation the post holder will start on the lower band.

You will be an outgoing and enthusiastic communicator who will engage with people, solve problems, explore new opportunities and develop contacts. As a co-operative, perceptive and diplomatic team worker you will listen to the ideas and views of others so that you can develop effective working relationships.

Your flexibility and adaptability mean that you are happy to take on various responsibilities, which will include supervising volunteers and contractors, leading guided walks, maintaining countryside furniture, using tools and caring for livestock. Based at Coulsdon Common in Surrey you will have the chance to work on a range of other sites including Farthing Downs,  Kenley Common, Riddlesdown (Croydon); Spring Park and West Wickham Common (Bromley) and Ashtead Common (Mole Valley)

You must have an appropriate qualification (minimum National Certificate or NVQ Level 2) in landscape or environmental management, conservation or interpretation and hold a full driving licence.

The working week is an average 37 hour week, including one in three weekends and some evening working. You will also be required to contribute to an out of office hours rota.  There is residential accommodation in a family-sized Lodge available with this post.

A Standard DBS check is required for this post.
