Assistant Programme Officer - 12 month fixed term contract (AD 748)

Salary Band E £16,959 – £22,612
 
WCMC is a UK charity, based in Cambridge, which supports the United Nations Environment Programme. We work in collaboration with UNEP, under the banner of UNEP-WCMC. Our mission is to evaluate and highlight the many values of biodiversity and put authoritative biodiversity knowledge at the centre of decision-making. Since our establishment in the 1970s, the Centre has been at the forefront of the compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of global biodiversity information, and has an outstanding record of achievement.

WCMC are now seeking an Assistant Programme Officer to work with the Business, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BBES) programme.
 

 

The role

This role will contribute to the Centre’s work on providing technical assistance and policy guidance on biodiversity and ecosystem services to the business sector.

 

The responsibilities

As Assistant Programme Officer, you will provide technical, analytical and administrative support to members of the programme. You will work on our newsletters and bulletins for business and biodiversity stakeholders and will organise and facilitate relevant meetings and workshops.

 

The candidate

You will hold a degree in biological sciences, ecology, environmental sciences or a related discipline and will have knowledge of key biodiversity and ecosystem services issues and concepts. You will have a demonstrated ability to produce high quality outputs and will have excellent organisational skills. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively.
