Assistant Programme Officer (AD883)

CONVENTIONS AND POLICY SUPPORT | Fixed term, full-time, Associate Officer

£18,000 - £22,000 depending on skills and competencies

Closing date: 2015-02-27

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically competent Assistant Programme Officer to work in the Conventions and Policy Support Programme, which aims to develop, facilitate and support the Centre’s engagement with intergovernmental processes and their implementation.

Reporting to a Senior Programme Officer, the postholder will provide both technical and logistical support to the programme team in delivering these objectives both within the programme and across the Centre. Key areas of responsibility will be focusing in particular on Multilateral Environmental Agreements and their implementation.

You will hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as geography, biological studies or developmental studies and will have familiarity with at least one intergovernmental process or agreement at either national and/or global level, preferably the Convention on Biological Diversity. You will also have demonstrated experience of researching complex information from multiple sources, and presenting it in a succinct and understandable manner. Working as part of the team, and actively contributing to team discussions and planning, we would expect the postholder to be an organised and competent individual, capable of independent research and report drafting.

We will provide you with the challenge of working on high profile conservation projects, where your work really makes a difference to the field of conservation in an area aligned to our strategic aims and broader global initiatives. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your technical expertise, excellent writing skills and teamwork, while contributing to efforts to safeguard global biodiversity, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter by following the link below by Friday 27th February 2015.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
