Job Title: Assistant Marine Officer (part-time - 3 days per week)

Based at the Trusts headquarters at Tyland Barn, Maidstone
The Job: The seas around Kent support important habitats and species which require protection within a network of Marine Protected Areas. This post will work as part of The Wildlife Trusts South East Living Seas Programme and within an EU-funded project. The post will be responsible for developing and running Kent Wildlife Trusts volunteer marine survey programmes (Seasearch and Shoresearch) gathering data on intertidal and subtidal habitats and species, and for raising general public awareness of the richness, importance and vulnerability of the South Easts marine wildlife.
You: will be a mature and confident communicator, able to enthuse others about marine wildlife and the importance of Marine Protected Areas. You will need to be familiar with the UKs marine flora and fauna, and have the skills to manage a database of marine volunteers and organise and run a programme of volunteer training and survey events. You will need to be a diver with the knowledge and qualifications required to safely run our Seasearch programme and marshal dives (although diving is specifically not part of the job).
