The Marine Mammal Department is seeking an Assistant Marine Mammal Trainer to assist in the day-to-day care and training of marine mammals, to prepare daily diets and be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of all animal and back-up areas. This position performs regularly in public presentations. 

Responsibilities of this position include assisting in the daily husbandry care of the marine mammals through observation, through maintaining all animal and related records, through assisting in safe animal restraint and preparing daily diets and vitamins. The Assistant Trainer helps to train basic animal behaviors, develops skills in animal handling, completes 1-2 simple training behaviors annually and participates in Marine Mammal Enrichment Programs as assigned. Along with representing the Aquarium and the department by participating in back-up and primary roles for formal and informal public presentations; participating in research projects and related papers; and completing assigned projects such as intern assignment, enrichment projects, etc.
 
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in marine biology, psychology, or related science or equivalent experience preferred. Open water SCUBA certification required. Minimum 3 months experience working with marine mammals.
