Assistant Marine Environmental Scientist (1 at each location)

The Environmental Services team within Fugro GB Marine Limited (FGBML), are a leading international provider of offshore and coastal marine ecological survey and analysis. We offer expert marine environmental advice whilst enabling the development of offshore projects. Our market sectors include renewable energy, oil and gas, aggregates, ports and harbours, cables and pipelines, leisure, the public sector and water industries.

To support our busy team, we are currently recruiting for the following positions: -

Edinburgh:

• Laboratory Technician
• Marine Environmental Scientist (x2)

Edinburgh and Portchester:

• Assistant Marine Environmental Scientist (1 at each location)

For both the Marine Environmental Scientist and the Assistant roles, we are looking for individuals educated to a minimum of degree level in Marine Environmental, Biological Science discipline or equivalent. The difference between the two roles is the level of previous experience required, with both roles being office and survey based.

As a Marine Environmental Scientist, we would expect you to have previous experience working offshore and be able to act as the Environmental Lead on a survey. Your offshore experience will have included grab sampling, box coring, drop-down video, water sampling and water profilers.

For the Assistant role, we are looking for a graduate with practical experience gained whilst at University. Full training will be provided for the role.

In either role you will be expected to support all project tasks including survey mobilisation, environmental field operations, survey demobilisation, video and data analysis and technical reporting. You will also be required to go on regular worldwide offshore deployments for nearshore and offshore survey locations as well as support office, warehouse and laboratory activities. You will therefore be required to be away from home on a regular basis.

In addition, FGBML are looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join our Chemistry Lab based in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have an ONC in Chemistry (or have equivalent relevant experience) and will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, extraction and processing of samples in the Chemistry Laboratory. You will need to work to deadlines and maintain good attention to detail whilst accurately recording data.
