Assistant Manager, Scottish Renewables

Circa £25k depending on experience + excellent benefits

Location, Scotland; Permanent

The purpose of this post is to assist with the management and delivery of the Scotland directorate's domestic renewables programmes, funded by the Scottish Government

The main responsibilities for this post will be:

  • To improve depth and quality of small scale renewables and energy efficiency advice provided to Scottish householders through the Energy Saving Scotland home renewables advice service. This will increase the knowledge of, and confidence in, renewables amongst householders and promote higher numbers of installations to reduce carbon emissions.
  • To assist with development and management of the Energy Saving Scotland home renewables advice service and grant scheme, and development of new activities to maximise renewables uptake. These activities will deliver the programme objectives agreed with Scottish Government, and inform internal teams of progress and issues.
  • To provide advice, information and guidance to Scottish renewables specialists and other renewables customers in a timely and accurate manner, thus keeping customers updated of the latest and most relevant information to inform their purchasing decisions and behaviour.
  • To liaise with internal EST teams and relevant external contractors to ensure smooth running of programmes and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • To develop and maintain contacts with Scottish and UK energy efficiency and renewables stakeholders, and keep up to date on developments in renewables and energy efficiency technologies and policies. This will ensure an effective technical and market knowledge base for programme development and customer advice, as well as reinforcing EST's reputation in the market.
  • To assist with any development of the Home Renewables advice service which broadens the scope of the service and support those aspects of the service which have synergies with other advice centre activities. In this way the wide benefits of the service to the ESSac network can be maximized.
  • Other tasks as required to deliver the objectives of the ESSac Network team.

·To be successful in this post, you will have:

Knowledge/skills:

  • Very good knowledge of domestic energy efficiency and renewables issues, particularly microgeneration.
  • Knowledge of Scottish public and NGO sectors.
  • People and project management skills.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in complex teams.
  • Self starter and able to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks within a demanding environment.
  • Results orientated with the ability to work to deadlines.

Experience:

  • Project management experience.
  • Direct or indirect management of people/teams to deliver products or services.
  • Renewables or energy efficiency related experience, ideally microgeneration.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • SAP/NHER qualified assessor (desirable)
  • Project management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 (desirable)
