Description

NIRAS Consulting Ltd. is seeking to recruit a number of posts into our growing ecology, environmental consenting and EIA teams in our Cambridge and London offices.   We have been operating in the UK for just over 1-year now, and have already built up a varied portfolio of clients including a number of major energy companies and have achieved an excellent track record in renewables. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business at the cutting edge of offshore development.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Environmental Consultant to support our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Ecology Teams in Cambridge and London.

Preferably the candidate will be based in Cambridge but opportunities for London-based working can be discussed.  The role will include assisting with a wide range of environmental research, inputting to planning, consenting and licensing of marine projects and EIAs, report writing, desk studies and other office-based work.

Candidates are expected to be recent EIA, ecology or biological sciences graduates (or similar) with some experience or knowledge of the planning and consenting process for offshore renewable infrastructure.

An understanding of any of the following topics would be advantageous, but not necessary:

  • Oceanography
  • Geomorphology/coastal processes
  • Marine mammals
  • Ecology
  • Ornithology or fisheries.

The candidate will also:

Assist with research and prepare final reports for strategic support to key stakeholders across Government and industry.  Assist at meetings and liaise with relevant stakeholders (e.g. MMO, Planning Inspectorate, JNCC, Natural England and RSPB).

Assist the team with business development in the renewables sector with a focus on offshore wind and wave and tidal opportunities.

Assist the Cambridge and London teams with GIS advice and presentation (training will be given as required).

The post would initially be on a six month contract, with the potential for extension depending on performance and workload.

NIRAS Consulting Ltd. offer an excellent remuneration package.
