Six month appointment (potentially extendable) based at Boxworth, Cambridge.

Salary in range £15,544-£17,271.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Ecotoxicologist to join our aquatic ecotoxicology group within Cambridge Environmental Assessments (CEA). CEA, part of ADAS UK Ltd, are specialists in regulatory environmental risk assessments for chemicals, providing strategic support for product registrations across Europe and are leaders in the design and conduct of aquatic mesocosm testing to support chemical registrations.

The purpose of the role is to deliver into experimental pond system (mesocosm) studies designed to simulate the effects of agricultural chemicals such as insecticides and herbicides on the flora and fauna within water bodies. The successful applicant will assist with field sampling of water, zooplankton, phytoplankton, macrophytes and sampling and identification of aquatic invertebrates and algae.
Full training will be provided on techniques, identification and on working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards

Our Requirements

This role would suit an applicant with an interest in biology who is looking to gain experience in aquatic ecology. You will be:
• Qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject with an interest in biology, ecology or environmental science
• Competent in data validation and in the use of computers and data inputting
• Have good numerical ability.
• Willing to work outside in all weathers/some long hours where necessary
