Mott MacDonald is currently looking to recruit a number of Assistant Ecologists to work in numerous locations throughout the UK including: Leeds, Cambridge & Birmingham.

Mott MacDonald has core skills in botany, aquatic invertebrates, aquatic macrophytes, amphibians, mammals and reptiles, with a strong track record of working in the water, power and highway industries. We offer a complete ecological assessment service to facilitate project delivery through meeting regulatory requirements, pushing forward best practice from project inception through to construction, operation and decommissioning both in the UK and overseas.

We require assistants in the following technical areas:
. Protected Species
. Marine Ecology
. Botany
.Freshwater Ecology (inc invertebrate identification)
. Hydrology
. Must hold current NE Licence to survey Great Crested Newts

The Assistant Ecologist will assist with field surveys during the peak survey period from March through to July. The successful candidate will be a competent field ecologist. You must also have a good understanding of UK Nature Conservation Legislation. Experience of working within the water & power industry (notably previous experience of working on overhead line refurbishment projects and sub-stations) would be an advantage. You must also be able to work unsociable hours and be able to work away from home for periods of time. Current driving licence is essential.

You must also be willing to be considered to be home based.
