Description:Epping Forest is owned and managed by the City of London, the local authority for the commercial and financial heart of Britain. Situated at the boundary of north-east London and south-west Essex, we attract thousands of visitors to our sites, which comprise 3,240 hectares of Forest and buffer lands. Of this 1,750 ha is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and 1,628 ha is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). We are looking to recruit an Assistant Ecologist to work within our Conservation Section and provide support the Team. Your main areas of work will involve: -carrying out fieldwork at appropriate times as directed -entering biological data into computer databases -mapping of trees and monitoring their health -assisting with protected species work and biodiversity action plan (BAP) fieldwork We are looking for a resourceful, practical person with proven experience in ecological sciences or a relevant degree/qualification, experience of fieldwork in woodlands/grasslands, plant or other ID skills and demonstrable experience of IT spreadsheets and data entry. A full driving licence is necessary in order to be able to drive between sites. Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 12 noon Monday 3rd October.
