Description

This Position is a fixed term contract position up to the 31 March 2018, renewable upon mutual agreement and Performance. Remuneration is on C1 Paterson salary scale, - basic salary of R15 846.63 per month (total Cost to company).

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Nature Conservation or Equivalent
  • 1 Year working experience in EPWP programmes and the Implemenatation of environmental projects
  • 1 Year GIS experience including GPS mapping 
  • Experience working with ESRI Software e.g. Arcview, Arcpad 
  • ESRI I, II course completed will be added advantage
  • Fully computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages such as Word, Excel, Power Point 
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation such as National Water and National Environmental Acts
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Code EB drivers license

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:

  • Implement monitoring projects in BSP relating to Vegetation, Soil, Degradation and Rehabilitation 
  • Delineation and Collation of baseline information across all programmes implemented 
  • Technical assistance to project managers/assistants by providing data during BSP’s annual planning
  • Assist with data capturing, analysis and reporting on key findings from monitoring and research in Biodiversity Social Projects 
  • Collation of spatial and non-spatial data into a central repository and ensure feedback to BSP Central GIS database.
  • Support of Ecological Monitoring Technician and Planning and Research Manager with desktop mapping and ad-hoc GIS tasks
