Job Title: Assistant Director, Licensing and Membership Marketing

Department: Office of Advancement

Location: San Francisco, CA

Reports To: Director of Licensing and Membership Marketing

Context: Responsible for helping to research, identify, and manage select partners, vendors, and consultant relations and obligations. Manages materials creation, production, inventory, and the product and packaging development process. Provides a variety of administrative support functions.

Scope: Seeks out, researches, identifies contacts for new partners, and helps to create and manage request for proposals (RPFs), selected licensing and membership marketing projects and programs, related relationships and materials production, ensuring timely, quality execution of all sales and marketing strategies, revenues, and agreement deal points. Performs a variety of programmatic, analytic, operational, and administrative functions.

Job Activities:

1. Seeks, researches, and identifies new licensing and membership marketing partner contacts with the guidance of the Director of Licensing and Membership Marketing. Assists with the preparation of RFPs and proposals, and maintains lead tracking.

2. Responsible for monitoring the adherence to contractual obligations for each partner, and managing delivery of select partner and Sierra Club contractual obligations.

3. Works with each assigned partner to ensure timely, quality execution of all sales and marketing strategies, revenues, and agreement deal points. Prepares and presents concepts, designs, illustrations, and strategies as requested.

4. Acts as the liaison and traffic manager between partners and potential partners, and the Director of Licensing & Membership Marketing (and the Director of Clean Technology Oureach where appropriate) for design and marketing issues ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely communication flow. Prepares electronic files for presentations, marketing and design concepts, trade show exhibits, etc..

5. Works with Director of Licensing & Membership Marketing (and in some cases CTO) to help develop annual and multi-year program plans, budgets, and schedules of assigned activities. Manages ongoing analysis, strategy, activity, and outside vendor relations of the assigned programs/projects and implements program/project enhancements. Manages income/expense budgets and forecasting models providing ongoing budget and program variance analysis.

6. Manages all aspects of the relevant online sites: Membership & Fundraising Clubhouse site, licensing product links, and partner shopping site. Manages related fulfillment vendor relations, merchandise, and materials inventory and production, and other licensing and membership marketing web projects as needed. Works closely with IS staff regarding technical needs, ideas, and plans for the related online pages.

7. Partners with licensing staff and other staff, licensees/partners, outside vendors, print production vendors, and others to complete projects successfully, honoring timelines and budgets. Simultaneously manages multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines.

8. Travels for licensing and membership marketing activities, when requested.

9. Performs a variety of programmatic, analytic, operational, and administrative functions for licensing and membership marketing. Assists with special projects as needed and performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Seasonal Activities:

Heavier seasonal workloads may occur as a result of project deadlines, staff absences and vacancies, and during peak activity periods. Some weekend and/or evening travel and/or work required.

Knowledge and Skills:

-- Minimum 3+ years marketing, advertising, retail merchandising, and/or licensing or related experience.

-- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

-- Prior experience in the preparation of budgets, analysis of financial performance and reporting, researching, print production, and inventory management.

-- Proficient computer and Internet skills, and with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

-- Proficient with graphics software (PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator and Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Quark), and basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and FTP.

-- Proven ability to interact effectively and professionally with co-workers and clients.

-- Strong organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and work independently.

-- Excellent written and oral communications skills and public speaking skills.

-- Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and produce marketing materials.
