The Sumatran Orangutan Society is dedicated to the conservation of Sumatran orangutans and their forest home. Our international branches raise awareness of the threats facing wild orangutans, and raise funds to support our grassroots conservation projects in Sumatra. Together with a team of committed Indonesian conservationists, we work with local communities living alongside the last remaining orangutan habitat. We plant trees and provide training to help the local people work towards a more sustainable future for their forests. The UK headquarters of the SOS, based in Oxford, is looking for a part-time assistant to support many aspects of running the office, including fundraising, campaigns, memberships and merchandise. Tasks will include:
Applicants should have excellent communication and computer skills, and knowledge of conservation and environmental issues. The position is offered on a part-time basis for 16-20 hours per week, at £6.00 per hour. Some evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
