The Assistant Cook/ Caterer is a key post at Malham Tarn Field Centre. As deputy to the Head Chef you will assist with delivery of the catering service to resident groups. This will include hands-on cooking, kitchen management tasks, deputising for the Head Chef as appropriate and assisting with the supervision of the catering team. 

Successful candidates will thrive on working within a busy and sometimes hectic environment (we regularly cater for up to 90 covers at breakfast and dinner); have the ability to multi-task effectively and be willing to adapt flexibly to changes within a well established and continually developing Centre whilst contributing to a friendly welcoming atmosphere for customers and colleagues at all times. A commitment to healthy eating and incorporating organic, fair-trade and local produce in your menus will be essential.

The post will operate on a flexible shift pattern to include early mornings, evenings and weekends. Occasional overnight on-call duties will be required on a shared rota. Live-in accommodation will be available with this post, for which a deduction will be made.

Hours of work are based on 40 hours per week

FSC Salary Grade: Scale points 7 - 10, actual salary £15,189 – £17,335 per annum
