Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute (MRCI) are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player to join us as our Assistant Community Coordinator. MRCI is a volunteer based organisation working on Nosy Komba, northwest Madagascar. In addition to marine and terrestrial conservation, MRCI works within the local communities providing English classes and environmental education, and developing infrastructure and resources. The role of the assistant community coordinator is to work with other staff and volunteers to lead and develop MRCI's community programs. The role will include: teaching English classes to adults and kids of all abilities and developing curriculums for the classes, training and supporting volunteers with lesson planning and leading classes, assisting with construction projects, developing links within the community and identifying areas for expansion of MRCI's community program The successful applicant must be independently motivated, be able to lead small groups of volunteers, and coordinate and build a rapport within the local communities. In addition you will be required to have: - A high level of written and spoken English - Experience working with volunteers is beneficial The position requires a minimum commitment of 3 months, with the possibility to extend, to start in late August 2017. All meals will be provided when at the research base as well as accommodation. You will need to cover your own pre-departure costs including flights, insurance and visas.
