The Division of Illinois State Water Survey within the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking 4 to 5 full-time Assistant Climate/Environment Modelers. The primary function of these positions will support several Federal funded grant projects to develop and apply advanced regional climate and environmental models toward assessing climate change impacts on air quality and water quality, and improving numerical representations of cloud-aerosol-radiation interactions and precipitation processes. The assistant modelers will assist the project leaders in achieving project goals. Dependent upon position, the primary job responsibilities will include improvement of model physics representation, the development of model code, the preparation of global and regional data sets for model initialization and lateral boundary conditions, the running of regional climate model simulations, the diagnostic analyses and critical validation of model output, and the preparation of graphical, including GIS, and written summaries of results.
