Description of the jobSalary £24,775 - £26,079 The role We would like to appoint a Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officer to in the South London / Surrey area, working on the planning and scheduling of the flood risk maintenance programme, preparing and managing contracts relating to the programme and oversight of operational activities undertaken by our workforce or contractors. The post holder will be required to engage with local communities informing them of the work we do, giving support in works they may want to do and provide a pro active approach to enforcement of our Byelaws. They will also give timely advice/support in relation to flood defence consents. The team The team covers the river systems in the Mole and South London Area. This is the area on the south side of the Thames (not including the Thames) from Erith to East Molesey. We are responsible for ensuring our assets are functioning to the required standards to minimise the effects of flooding. The team supports our field teams and manages the contractors who deliver our £800k maintenance programme.
Experience/skills required Ideally the post holder will have a HND or higher in a civil engineering discipline.
Knowledge of the CDM regulations and other H&S legislation would be beneficial, as would experience in project management. Computer Literacy is essential to role as there will be a requirement to use GIS applications and Asset Management databases.
Additional useful information You may be required to travel anywhere in the Kent and South London area, and an expectation to provide incident management cover on an out of hours rota. A full driving licence is essential.
