Description

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The institute wishes to engage four (04) research personnel on contractual basis for the project `Assessment of Status of Tiger and Prey Species in Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh’. The assignment will be for a period of 04 months and may be extended further depending upon the requirement of the project. The Walk-in-interview will be conducted at WII on Friday, 21st November 2008. The essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply for the available positions are given below. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.

Essential Qualification – Should possess a Post Graduate Degree in Botany/Zoology/ Forestry/Life Science/Environmental Science/Biological Science/Wildlife Science/M.V.Sc., with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

Desirable Qualification – Candidate with capability to handle the following activities;                                 

(a)  Experience in Camera Trap method

(b)  Experience in Distance sampling

(c)  Experience in sign surveys and occupancy model.

Brief description of the work The selected candidates will be required to work on prey population estimation, vegetation sampling, habitat evaluation and camera trapping of tigers in Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh.

 

GENERAL Terms & Conditions

The age of the candidate shall not be more than 35 years as on 17th November 2006. The selection of the candidates will be based on `Walk-in-Interview’ scheduled to be conducted at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun on Friday, 21st November 2008.

  1. Candidates who arrive for the Walk-in-Interview would be registered in the morning at 09:00 A.M. on 21st November 2008. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, research experience, date of birth, extra curricular activities, computer skills etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.

  2. The selection offer to the candidates will be on purely contractual basis for a period of 4 months initially and it may be extended further, depending upon the requirement of the project.

  3. Selected research fellow will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 10,000/- as stipend per month.

  4. Canvassing in any form is liable to result in rejection of the candidature.

  5. Two way travel expenses will be paid to the candidates, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of residence.

  6. The field work is likely to commence from fourth week of November 2008 and selected candidates need to join immediately or at a short notice.

  7. The Director Wildlife Institute of India reserves the right to discontinue the engagement process of four researchers and/or the period of engagement without assigning any reason.
