As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Conservation Programs oversees all aspects of community-based conservation, land and water protection, land stewardship and restoration, and preserve management in the state of Arizona.  S/he will: provide strategic leadership and direction for the Conservancy’s conservation planning work and establish overall conservation priorities for Arizona and in support of the Colorado River regional project; serve as principle liaison and contact developing key relationships with other conservation organizations, community groups and non-traditional partners; play a role in the identification of funding sources and the cultivation and stewardship of selected donors; disseminate best practices and provide training and analyses to best implement organizational measures of success; and, lead the Freshwater strategic initiative and serve on the Land Health and Growing by Design initiatives.  This will include the following functions:
• Establish the Conservancy as a major conservation partner.
• Define conservation priorities in the areas of responsibility.
• Support public and private fundraising programs.
• Lead and manage a large statewide team that implements conservation efforts.
• Build strategic, scientific and technical capacity in the field.
• Develop key partnerships with public and private organizations in order to identify and resolve technical issues and to widely communicate solutions and best practices.
• Develop innovative scientific methods, analyses, tools and frameworks to address the natural system needs.
• Engage local community and key influential support for local and regional conservation efforts.
• Negotiate complex and innovative solutions with government agencies, major institutions and landowners to conserve and protect natural communities.
