Location:  Crewe or Manchester office base, with travel across the region and into East Midlands

 

This NNR Area Senior Adviser role is primarily responsible for the leadership, coordination and support of NNR delivery across Cheshire to Lancashire Area Team and East Midlands Area Team, alongside supporting national NNR Operations in delivery improvement across the breadth of NNR delivery as required.

This role covers the Natural England Area Teams of Cheshire to Lancashire and the East Midlands, who provide environmental leadership in an area of approx. 15 million people including the major urban areas of Greater Manchester, the Liverpool City Region, Nottingham, Leicester and Derby as well as stunning countryside and natural environments. The region is home to magnificent natural assets including the Pennine and Bowland hills, Peak District National Park, Sherwood Forest, the wetlands of Cheshire and Great Manchester, Lincolnshire Wolds AONB and the wildlife-rich Irish Sea and North Sea coastlines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Line management of the Cheshire to Lancashire Senior Reserve Manager for the Ainsdale and Ribble NNR group.
  • Establishing clear leadership and an inspirational vision for NNR delivery within each Area Team. This will include planning and resourcing working closely with each Area Leadership Group, Team Leaders and Reserve staff.
  • NNR Health & Safety support to NNR staff and Team Leaders, including the identification and sharing of best practice, safe systems of work and risk management as applicable to NNRs, and risk monitoring and compliance at both local and national network level.
  • Supporting NNR Management Planning and NNR Estate management, including use of CMSi; NNR H&S Checklists and audits; NNR declarations and acquisitions; delivery of local NNR Estate Capital Improvement Programme projects.
  • Supporting the development of Area Team local strategic NNR partnerships, including liaison and relationship building with NNR Approved Body managing partners. Internally, the role will support regional NNR networks enabling join up with other national and thematic networks and specialists.
