MAIN TASKS 1. Designated sites. Protect the natural heritage through positive management of the 7 Natura sites and 26 SSSIs in North and East Fife by
· Maintaining liaison with owners/occupiers of SSSIs; · Contributing to the management of designated sites, through Natural Care Schemes and Rural Development contracts. · Review of designated sites as required by the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act. · Monitoring of designated sites, including Site Condition Monitoring and compliance monitoring of Management Agreements; · Responding to casework affecting designated sites.
2. Casework. Maintain and enhance the diversity of Scotland’s habitats, species, and landscapes by
· Responding to consultations on European Protected Species, Structure and Local Plans, other planning consultations, EIAs and SEAs. · Responding to consultations relating to non-statutory sites and projects, e.g. Local Nature Reserves, Local Biodiversity and access. · Providing advice on habitat and species management, including statutory advice on protected species (including European Protected Species) · Managing research and survey work as required.
3. Grants. Contribute to the assessment and management of grants for local heritage projects across North & East Fife.
4. Partnerships. Represent SNH on partnerships with local agencies , local authorities, NGOs, community groups and individuals.
5. Unit Management. Contribute to the planning and management of SNH's work in Forth & Borders following our corporate systems and standards
