Description

Key Responsibilities:

. Maintain and Enhance the Diversity of Scotland’s Habitats, Species and Landscapes
· to respond to applications for consent, consultations and to provide advice on managing statutory sites such as SSSIs, Natura 2000;
· to respond to planning consultations, Environmental Impact Assessments and other consultations such as SEPA/FEPA;
· to advise on and respond to consultations relating to protected species as identified under relevant legislation, especially bats, otters, badgers and water voles;
· undertake Site Condition Monitoring and Nature Conservation Act review for SSSI’s, and negotiate management agreements where appropriate, in association with the Land Agent;

2. Improve Understanding of the Natural Heritage and Foster Positive Action by Individuals, Communities and Organisations
· provide advice to the general public to requests for information on the natural heritage;
· to provide advice to partnerships responsible for developing and implementing Local Biodiversity Action Plans
· to develop positive working relations with all interested parties involved in the use and management of the natural heritage with the aim of increasing awareness, understanding and enjoyment of the natural heritage i.e land managers, Ranger Services,

3. Manage SNH efficiently and effectively
· implement SNH’s Customer Care Policy;
· carry out reporting on progress and work recording as required to ensure standards are delivered;
· update casework recording and grants databases;
· identify personal training needs in association with Line Manager and participate in internal and external training initiatives as appropriate;
· contribute to the preparation, monitoring and delivery of the Clyde Team’s Operational Plan targets;
· contribute general support, promote efficiency ideas and specialist skills to the work of the Clyde Team in conjunction with the ‘D’ grade Area Officer.
