MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Designated sites

 -          Review of SSSI documentation under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004, (e.g. citations, Site Management Statements, ORCs and consents);

-          Action to bring unfavourable SSSI and Natura features into favourable condition (e.g. positive land management);

-          Site Condition Monitoring for SSSI and Natura sites (survey, write-ups and liaison with owners and occupiers).

 Provision of advice and assistance with casework relating to:  

-          European Protected Species (e.g. bats, otters) including oversight of the bat casework system;

-          Species protected under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act;

-          Badgers.

-          Provide flexible support to all SNH’s work in the area as required;
