Summary description

Provide communications leadership and coordination for all of Greenpeace US Arctic-related work, including serving as communications lead on one US-led global project. Engage in a broad range of communications work including strategy, messaging/storytelling, creative, media, online and other public outreach tactics in collaboration with cross-departmental project team(s). This is an exciting opportunity to work with an amazing team of diverse professionals in Greenpeace US and other Greenpeace offices around the world to support one of our highest priority projects.

Main responsibilities

1. Strategic direction and communication design
Advise the Arctic project team on the formulation and execution of Greenpeace’s strategic direction and communication design across multiple platforms, including visuals, traditional media, digital technologies, and creative confrontation.

2. Communication Strategy & Implementation – US
Lead and coordinate the formulation, agreement and implementation of an overarching pro-active and reactive communication strategy for the US office’s Arctic campaign in collaboration with the project team(s). Empower individual sub-project team members to rollout work in a coordinated way. Ensure alignment of messaging and creative approaches across all projects and disciplines (online, offline, media, etc.).

3. Communications Strategy & Implementation – Global Project
Lead the development of a communications strategy for a global “cluster” project involving multiple Greeenpeace offices. Ensure appropriate resources and expertise are available across offices to deliver on the strategy. Lead day-to-day implementation of communications work for this project across offices and disciplines.

4. Creative/Cultural Concept Development
Proactively scan external world for opportunities to bring the issue of Arctic oil greater public awareness and engagement. This may include partnering with creative agencies, engaging celebrities and other high profile supporters, designing public events and pursuing the use of innovative technologies and online platforms.
