Description

This position will be required to undertake a wide range of operational activities as part of the maintenance program for the seawater systems at CSIRO's Bribie Island Research Centre (BIRC) including performing routine checks and maintenance tasks, cleaning tanks, basic animal husbandry, routine laboratory work and a range of other general site duties.

This position involves working Friday to Tuesday so working on weekends will be a regular and important component of the job. There will be a requirement to be available for periodic after hours work and short field trips.  You will also participate in an on call roster that on occasions may require a call back to work out of hours as required. 

Location:  Bribie Island, Greater Brisbane, Queensland
Salary:     $41K - $53K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Requirements of the successful candidate will include:

  • Aquatic animal husbandry experience;
  • Demonstrated experience performing routine maintenance and minor repairs activities applying basic plumbing or carpentry skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Ability to exercise initiative, to work independently and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
