Description

This project is dedicated to assisting the suffering of animals on Koh Lanta in the South West of Thailand. Its mission is to control the overpopulation of stray cats and dogs on Lanta Island in a humane way by sterilisation. Relieving the pain and suffering of unwanted animals in distress. The project has treated and sterilized more than 5,000 cases to date.

The project welcomes the assistance of volunteers whether you have experience in animal care or not. You just need a willingness to work hard and a passion to help the cats and dogs of Koh Lanta.

General volunteers will be involved in the daily routine which includes basic care (walking, feeding, cleaning, socialising, giving treatment to ill or recovering animals), administration, assistance to the vet, education, fundraising, catching strays and more.

If you’re a vet and would like to contribute to controlling the over-population of strays and relieving the pain of suffering animals, then this is for you. You will sterilise animals on a daily basis as well as examine pets brought in by their owners. You will sometimes be out roaming the island for strays as well; a great way to get fresh air.

Volunteers receive free accommodation but are responsible for their own food. Long-term volunteers (minimum one month stay) receive a free cooking class, staff prices at the bar and a 20% discount on food at the restaurant.

If you have any questions or want to apply please visit the Volunteer Work Thailand website and then contact the host organization directly (this project is listed on page 1 of the volunteer pages).
