Maternity cover 6 months fixed term Location: South East Wales: Caerphilly/North Cardiff/Cwmbran/Pontypridd Closing Date: 11.05.12 Ref: ACO/036/WW8M Salary: £14,057 - £14,763 per annum Allowance: 8% shift allowance Hours: 35 per week The RSPCA, the World’s largest and oldest animal welfare organisation, is looking for an Animal Collection Officer (ACO) to join the team in the South East Wales group. The main responsibilities of the post include: ACOs must be able to deal with animals of every description and collect, secure and transport them safely and humanely. They must carry out animal euthanasia when necessary, and undertake or assist with animal rescues (subject to training and certification of competence). The successful applicant should have: Whilst playing a key role within a team, the ACO must also be comfortable working alone. The role also involves regular contact with the public and external agencies and therefore a customer focus and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that candidates hold a valid driving licence. Involvement in animal rescues and animal handling means that it is important to be in good physical health. Prior experience of working with animals is desirable although full training will be given.
