The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a SEASONAL Animal Technician II for its South Florida Wildlife Center. The main responsibility of this position is to provide daily care to resident animals and maintain habitats interior and exterior and to supervise staff and assign tasks as requested, in the absence of the supervisor. Other duties include, but are not limited to: prepare food/diets, feed and water for animals throughout workday; clean assigned enclosures – interior and exterior; monitor assigned animals for any medical or behavioral problems; carry out medical treatments or assist in medical treatments per supervisors or clinic staff; capture/move/transfer animals with the facility as directed; stock supplies; maintain cleanliness of habitats, and provide animals with adequate diet and fresh water throughout the day; monitor, supervise, and assign task to Animal Tech I, in the absence of the supervisor. High school diploma and six months to one year of experience in an animal care field highly desired. Good observational and organizational skills and the ability to follow written directions and record observations strongly preferred. Must be able to identify changes in animal behavior or medical status and must be able to move/lift 50lbs, bend frequently, and stand throughout workday.
