Mountain View Conservation Society, in Fort Langley British Columbia, has 2 positions open for our Animal Care Internship program. Interns will work along side Keepers assisting with daily care and husbandry of private collection animals. Duties include food preparation, feeding and cleaning, maintenance and grounds keeping, behavioral observation and work with breeding programs. This is an unpaid position requiring a commitment of five 8 hour days per week for 5-6 months beginning immediately. Housing on site is provided free of charge in shared quarters. The benefit of the program is to gain hands-on experience with endangered animals in a very competitive field, and a reference letter from Mountain View Conservation Society will be awarded at the end of the term.
Applicants should be University students or graduates of a related field, such as Biology, Zoology, Animal Sciences, Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Sciences, etc. and have a strong desire to attain a career in animal care in the future. Applicants must be physically fit; able to work a full, sometimes strenuous day, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
