Analysts and Senior Analyst

These are full time positions located in our Wellington office, four of which are at analyst level and one at senior analyst level.

This is an opportunity to work in a Ministry that plays a key role in shaping the way New Zealand manages its natural resources and their contribution to the country's prosperity.


Appointments to Analyst and Senior Analyst positions in the Ministry provide for placement across a range of teams, with current vacancies in the Natural Resources Policy and the Sector Strategy divisions.


Ideally you will have experience and a working knowledge of one of the following:

Analyst level positions

•   local government and the Resource Management Act particularly covering contaminated land, or risk and natural hazards

•   monitoring, appointments and governance, particularly of Crown Entities.


Analyst level and senior analyst level positions

• climate change policy, legislation and operations, domestic and international emission trading schemes.

If so, you will need to demonstrate

•   excellent analytical and research skills

•   confidence in building and managing stakeholder relationships

•   the ability to apply project management principles

•   a positive approach and a significant drive to continually grow and develop professionally

•   well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.


As a Senior Analyst you will also:

•   be expected to play a significant role in building capability of others through coaching and mentoring less experienced team members, and to enjoy contributing to building an effective team

•   be able to demonstrate your ability to lead significant pieces of work.


Potential candidates will be at least Degree qualified in a relevant area.

Salary ranges:  Analyst - $47,250 to $77,625
                        Senior Analyst - $82,637 to $111,803

Appointment to either Analyst or Senior Analyst will be made within one of these ranges based on skills and experience.
