Primary Purpose of the Position: The Center for Park Management was launched by NPCA to develop practical management solutions and strategies that address the issues of managing our nation’s national parks. Working as a consulting group, CPM researches, delivers, and manages solutions to systemic park management challenges. The Analyst provides research and support to one or more of CPM’s management projects, covering issues of leadership, financial and operational improvement, marketing and outreach, etc. The Analyst plays a critical role in the success of our consulting projects by delivering high quality best practices research, conducting literature reviews, interviews, and other research tasks. In addition, incumbent will provide support in production of final project products, including editing and layout and implementing dissemination strategies as necessary. Total 100% Other: Respect employees regardless of their position or background. Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Participate in administrative staff meetings, organization-wide meetings, staff committee meetings, training programs, and attend other meetings and seminars as designated by the supervisor. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position. Minimum Work Schedule: 9-5, M-F, occasional weekends and evenings. Occasional travel may be required. Minimum Scope of Position: Internal NPCA staff contact and external contacts with a wide variety of people and interests, via phone, email, and in person. Involves development of relationships with NPS park managers and other partners. Occasional travel required. Evening and weekend work sometimes necessary. Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits: Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and analyze data. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Ability to conduct detailed research. Confident in carrying out in-depth analysis of data. Graphic design skills a plus. The incumbent must possess superlative organizational skills and have competencies as a natural organizer. The incumbent must also demonstrate capability as a competent, comfortable, fluent, and well-humored communicator. The incumbent should demonstrate ability to self-start and self-motivate and record of accomplishment and productivity in an individualized workplace environment. Interest and/or experience with national park and public lands issues and business management practices. Well-developed computer skills required (spreadsheets, word-processing, presentation development, publication tools, database development and use, etc.). |
