Description

EJF is currently recruiting a new intern for 2/3 days a week to assist on fundraising, research and project management for a UK based alternative energy project.

Background
In conjunction with EJF’s work examining the impacts of climate change in creating environmental refugees, the organisation is developing a renewable energy project in the UK as a source of income and as a means to encourage other organisations and individuals to invest in renewable energy sources and low carbon living.

The successful intern will report directly to the Executive Director to assist in the following:

- ensuring the installer for both the wind measurement masts and the turbine are the most economically viable options.

- Overseeing the submission of planning permission for wind measurement masts and working with the installer to submit planning permission for main turbine

- Providing EJF Directors with clear cost breakdown and analysis of wind speed measurements and estimated economic return from turbine

- liaising with the site owner and installers to ensure the successful installation of the first turbine.

- Visiting the turbine site in Scotland

- assisting the fundraising team reach the investment target for EJF’s first flagship wind power project including applications

- researching new potential sites for subsequent turbine installations in the UK

Essentials
The successful candidate will have a first class degree and preferably a higher degree.

Applicants must have an understanding of the renewable energy sector, project management experience and have a commitment to the aims and ideals of EJF.

A minimum commitment of 2 days per week over a 3 month period is required during the research period.

The position is unpaid although travel in London and lunch allowance are provided.
