Greenpeace Canada (GPC) is a member of The Alberta Green Economy Network (AGEN), which is a diverse network of groups from the environmental, union, and renewable energy sectors as well as First Nation and Metis representatives. We are seeking an experienced program manager who will primarily be responsible for coordinating and engaging the Alberta Green Economy Network.

Job Vacancy: Alberta Green Economy Network (AGEN) Coordinator
Location:  Edmonton, Alberta (preferred)
Reports to: Head of Energy Campaign
Closing date for applicants: September 23rd, 2016
Duration: 1 Year Full-Time Contract (30 hours per week)

The work of the Network Coordinator will be driven by the AGEN Steering Committee and the incumbent will help the network solidify common positions, design and implement campaigns to move network goals forward, coordinate policy creation, and provide on-going support and leadership to the network.

Greenpeace Canada is an independently funded, non-profit organization that works to protect the environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1. Work with AGEN groups to develop and implement campaigns that support the Network’s vision and mandate.

2. Help develop materials and online strategies to support AGEN goals and objectives.

3. Work as a representative of AGEN in meetings with government and the media.

4. Coordinate meetings and presentations within AGEN 

5. Coordinate research and develop policy.

6. Work to deepen engagement and broaden the membership of AGEN.

7. Write fundraising proposals and help secure network funding.

8. Other duties as required.      

SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environmental and social justice issues;

2. Experience coordinating diverse groups, allies and collaborators from different cultural backgrounds;

3. Knowledge of campaign techniques, strategies and practices and the principals of social movement and engagement organizing;

4. Proven skill in developing communication and online materials and strategies;

5. High level of professionalism while representing an organization, managing conflict, and maintaining work relationships;

6. Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives with sometimes limited supervision, yet participate effectively as part of a team;

The ability to work weekends and evenings is sometimes required.
