WCSIA Agronomy Technician – Seasonal

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Ducks Unlimited is seeking a seasonal agronomy technician to provide assistance to two full-time agronomists. The position requires travel in the project area primarily restricted to northwest, central, and south-central ND geographies (see attached map).  This temporary position will be stationed in DU’s Great Plains Regional Office in Bismarck, ND, and the tentative start/end dates are April 1 through August 31, 2014.  Tasks will include but not be limited to: 

  1. Make fertility, herbicide and fungicide applications to winter wheat research plots
  2. Maintain plot alleys with tractor mower and trimmers
  3. Assembly and placement of plot signs
  4. Collection of data through note taking and measurements from winter wheat research plots
  5. Research plot equipment maintenance and preparation
  6. Provide assistance in the preparation of winter wheat research trial materials to seed plots in the fall of 2014
  7. Trimming, measurement and assistance of winter wheat research plot harvest
  8. Provide assistance with research plot tours

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid driver’s license/clean driving record
  2. Experience with driving pickup with trailer in tow
  3. Experience and education with cropland agriculture preferred
  4. Ability and/or experience to drive and operate a tractor with a mower and a sprayer
  5. Holder of a current pesticide applicators permit desired

Candidate must be willing to travel and stay overnight near job sites for up to four nights per week. Ducks Unlimited will provide a vehicle and cover associated travel costs.
