Agricultural Policy & Advice Officer Inverness £28,101-£32,222 Farmland is an important part of our natural heritage, providing much of our wildlife habitat, landscape interest, recreational and sporting resource, and with over 75% of the land of Scotland classed as agricultural land, many habitats and species of conservation interest rely on environmentally sensitive agricultural practice. Here, you’ll play a leading role in providing agricultural advice across SNH, with the objective to secure maximum natural heritage benefits. Through a range of activities, you’ll provide internal advice on on-farm conservation practice and priorities; contribute to agricultural policy development and input into events. You’ll also develop advice and training opportunities for land managers, farming businesses and crofts on biodiversity conservation good practice for soil and water, agri-environment schemes and environmental aspects of farming business planning. With a degree in agriculture, ecology, environmental science or similar, you’ll bring a good knowledge of Scotland’s natural heritage and protected areas, along with sound project management, written and verbal communication skills.
