CARE El Salvador is currently seeking an Agriculture and Forestry Specialist for an upcoming multi-year US government funded project.S/He is expected to be a highly qualified international specialist with technical expertise in one or more of the proposed sectors of intervention and tracked expertise in value chains. He or she will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the provision of TA services for fruits, vegetables, forestry and agro-forestry, dairy, and industry sectors with an entrepreneurial and value chain approach, and for ensuring that best science practices are applied to PDP investments. He or she will be, also, responsible for participating in the technical review of project proposals and will participate in monitoring of approved projects. In addition he or she will provide assistance for the preparation of proposals that will include technical assistance and training under the production and business services activity, investment support through FIDENORTE and/or financial support through the program financial services activities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in fields related to proposed technical activities: agriculture, forestry, dairy and agro-industry sectors
Experience in similar positions in projects similar in scope preferably in Central America
Minimum of seven years experience
International experience in agriculture and agribusiness value chains.
Must be available for up to 30% travel sometimes on short notice and to remote areas
Understanding of forestry and agro-forestry sector issues in tropical countries.
Demonstrated reporting, writing, presentation, communications, and inter-personal skills
