Agricultural Consultant

Our client is a major provider of expert solutions and policy advice on environmental issues. They provide clients with objective, science-based information, advice and implementation services across the environment sector.

A vacancy has arisen for an Agricultural Consultant to sell and deliver a range of services based from their Cambridge office.

Key Responsibilities

  • To actively lead, sell and deliver the ADAS consultancy offer to farm businesses and public and private sector landlords and the agricultural industry.
  • To sell and deliver farm related environmental advice, such as conservation/habitat management, soils and water protection/management and agri environment scheme consultancy.
  • To sell and deliver other farm based consultancy, which could include business and financial planning, diversification, planning applications, energy, or farm waste storage advice.
  • To have a flexible approach to work in assisting other ADAS colleagues as necessary to meet business objectives.
  • To manage projects for farm based consultancy.

Key experience

Essential

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, for example agriculture, land management.
  • At least 2 years experience of providing consultancy/advice to farm businesses preferably in a commercial context.
  • Good nutrient planning skills and experience of one or more nutrient planning tools e.g. PLANET, MANNER.
  • Good up-to-date knowledge and experience of farm business management, husbandry, policy, regulation including NVZs, agri environment and other grant schemes available to farm businesses.
  • A track record of successful sales to farm businesses.
  • Good team working, interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, willing and able to travel and work away from home location.
  • Commercial awareness.

Desirable

  • A broad knowledge of farm energy efficiency and farm waste collection and storage.
  • A FACTS or BASIS qualification.
  • Familiarity with SAFFO regulations and CIRIA 126 / construction standards.
