Background:

Building on the successes of the Environmental Strategy teams fuel poverty work, CHANGE AGENTS UK have been awarded funding by Norwich City Council to appoint a Fuel poverty officer to continue this exciting work for 9 months. Rising energy prices and cold temperatures are making it very difficult for many householders to stay warm and pay for their energy. To tackle this, funding has been gained to work directly with householders on a programme of collective switching and other activities contained within the councils draft affordable warmth strategy and ongoing Environmental Strategy. It is hopped that the, Big Switch, a collective switching project and other activities such as the NHS, Warm and Well programme, as well as the general promotion of government grants, will help the council to deliver its targets against this high profile work area. CHANGE AGENTS UK are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate change agent to help us deliver this high profile opportunity.

Objective:

Working closely with Norwich City Council, local stakeholders and media organisations, this project aims to tackle fuel poverty across the City. To provide a measurable impact on the households who engage with the collective switching programme and, or other mail outs promoting access to government grants to increase energy efficiency. More widely, the communications campaign aims to raise the profile of energy issues and fuel poverty across the city of Norwich.

Benefits To Graduate

This opportunity offers the successful applicant a chance to gain real life experience of delivering energy efficiency advice and guidance to householders through a range of activities that include collective switching energy advice, through face to face communication, and by developing and implementing a communications programme to increase use of government grants. The postholder will benefit from training in energy awareness, and will be supported by a dedicated project coordinator. The opportunity is ideal for anyone looking to work with energy issues in a local authority or consultancy.
