Description

APEM Ltd is Europe’s largest specialist aquatic science consultancy, offering our clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the scientific study and management of freshwater and marine habitats. With over 25 years’ experience we operate UK wide as well as internationally, and our scientists are recognised experts in their fields.

As a company we pride ourselves on our commitment to scientific and client service excellence.  This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre, motivated and commercially-minded scientist to join our growing team.

The Remote Sensing Division is a rapidly expanding part of the business, with 5 APEM owned survey aircraft and an ever increasing selection of top of the range remote sensing equipment.  We are looking for Graduate Scientists to join our current team to allow us to continue to expand.

If you are a high-calibre scientist near the beginning of your career, with an interest in aerial remote sensing,  image processing and ornithology, and are keen to progress your career in these areas then this is an opportunity you cannot afford to ignore.  The main responsibility of the role is to undertake in-house image analysis and data recording.

Successful applicants will have a 1st degree in environmental science / remote sensing/ geography / biology or related disciplines and any interest or qualifications in ornithology would be advantageous.  You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work to tight deadlines.  You will also be an active team player.  Understanding of MS Office packages is essential, and some experience of GIS software packages is preferable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Flexibility and adaptability are also key requirements in this role. The candidate may be required to help out with some of the data collection duties onboard the aircraft and will need to be flexible to undertake surveys when required.

There will be opportunities for progression within the role itself as well as progression into other areas of APEM’s business. The candidate will be exposed to the wider aspects of APEM’s work providing ample opportunity for career and personal development.
