The Advocacy Coordinator will report to the Action Network Manager to provide support for the EDF Action Network and Political Affairs team in developing and executing digital advocacy efforts that support our environmental protection efforts. The Coordinator will assist in building a strong grassroots network of politically influential audiences that can be mobilized to support our environmental advocacy efforts. This position will play a key role in organizing, developing, and implementing online email outreach, web-based advocacy, and online-to-offline activities (events, get-out-the-vote efforts, etc).
Key Responsibilities

  • Devise and implement advocacy campaigns around EDF’s environmental policy priorities in coordination with members of the Political Affairs team and the Action Network Manager.
  • Create relevant and timely action alerts, informational emails, and landing pages to engage key target audiences.
  • Develop, analyze, and present activation metrics and provide regular, clear reports on the results of digital communication strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date overall activity calendar for engaging key audience targets, share and coordinate planning with other appropriate teams.
  • Help develop and launch social media messaging and outreach strategies to reach and engage targeted constituents.
  • Conduct specific data and fact research as needed to increase campaign capacity related to recruiting and engaging influential individuals.
  • Respond to requests for support and information from our various internal constituencies.
  • Provide administrative, logistical, communications and documentation support to the team.


Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience working on camapigns in a communications or grassroots position, preferably on environmental campaigns.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to craft compelling social media and email action alerts.
  • At least one year of relevant experience working with social media tools to communicate to highly targeted groups.
  • Database management skills
  • Good judgement, initiative, and ability to anticipate problems and follow through with confidence.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Strong oral communciations and meeting coordination skills.
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities among a varied set of tasks.
  • Preferred experience with email messaging, advocacy and fundraising systems.


Preferred candidates will have:

  • Successful experience building and managing coalitions and engaging grassroots activists to create change.
  • Experience working with online CRM/advocacy tools.
  • Experience with the principles of member and activist cultivation and online social networking.
  • Basic HTML and design/photoshop skills.
