We are seeking an Advocacy Coordinator to co-ordinate local government advocacy policies and programs and manage specific projects at local government level.  This role is full-time and based in our Sydney office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating and contributing to the value of GBCA membership and providing information and support to GBCA local government members
  • Coordinating meetings for the Local Government Task Groups, including scheduling, logistics, invitations, circulating agenda and keeping minutes;
  • Managing and updating GBCA's network of local government contacts;
  • Arranging and attending meetings, and building and maintaining relationships with local government contacts and relevant industry stakeholders;
  • Drafting letters to local government representatives and maintaining records of correspondence; and
  • Undertaking research and monitoring media for local government projects, policies and initiatives relevant to the work of GBCA.

Required skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines
  • Self motivation, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Experience working in local government would be an advantage.
