The U.S. Green Building Council i currently seeking someone with strong writing skills and an interest in environmental issues and public policy processes to serve as the Advocacy and Policy Summer Associate. The Advocacy and Policy Summer Associate position is key to the success of several USGBC programs and campaigns. The Advocacy and Policy team, focused on advancing sound green building policy at all levels of government focuses its work on four main thematic areas: green buildings and climate change; green affordable housing; sustainable cities and communities; and green schools. In support of these broad-sweeping efforts, the candidate will support outreach to government decision makers; support the technical development and support the coordination, planning, implementation of various events in summer and fall.

Summer Associate Details Include

  • Coordinate letter-writing and mailing for outreach campaigns
  • Assist in maintenance and improvement projects to online policy tools
  • Launch logistical planning and coordination efforts for USGBC policy events
  • Conduct research and compile reports related to USGBC’s policy work

Education and Training Requirements/Preferences

  • Minimum education requirements are current enrollment in undergraduate program

Experience Requirements

  • Must have previous work experience in a professional setting

Other Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Interest in and understanding of environmental issues, community and real estate development and the public policy processes
  • Strong writing, communications, and organization skills and an attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Familiarity with HTML code and HTML editing software
  • Commitment to USGBC’s mission
