We are looking for someone who can contribute to strengthening the project management and political impact of our work in Indonesia.

The rainforest is amazing and provide services for our planet that we all depend on. But it is under threat. We are looking for someone with expertise and passion to join us in our important work to save the rainforest. We are looking for someone who can contribute to strengthening the project management and political impact of our work in Indonesia. We have a job vacancy for a permanent position in the Indonesia team that consists of a total of six people. The team is part of the International Department with nearly 30 dedicated employees.

Most of the work is related to management of development projects in collaboration with indigenous and environmental organizations, but the team also works on influencing the political and legal frameworks for forest conservation and indigenous rights, and campaigns to stop the drivers behind deforestation.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic collaboration with partner organizations
  • Project management, including quality assurance and control of administration and finances
  • Participate in application design and reporting to donors
  • Contribute to political influence work in the region, in Norway, and internationally
  • Contribute to campaigns against the drivers behind deforestation
  • Contribute to media attention around the rainforest case

Qualifications

  • Experience from project management and development cooperation
  • Competency in organizational development and financial management
  • Relevant higher education and / or other expertise related to environmental issues, indigenous rights and / or other relevant disciplines
  • Extensive knowledge of rainforest conservation and indigenous rights
  • Good English and Indonesian language skills required. Norwegian language skills is an advantage
  • Ability to communicate well with a variety of different actors in Indonesia, whether it be communities in the rainforest, senior politicians or business representatives
  • Experience from work in challenging and sometimes risky areas
  • Willingness and opportunity to travel a lot

Personal characteristics

You are committed, systematic, efficient and solution-oriented, and thrive at a high pace. You are willing to travel and enjoy being in the field as a minimum of 50 days of travel is expected annually. You are responsible and can work independently, but also in close cooperation with others.

The position is permanent. Start-up is desired as soon as possible. Salary according to the State's salary levels 47-66, possibly 58-69, depending on qualifications.

The salary is between NOK 428.200 and NOK 627.700 depending on qualifications and experience. Health and Pension benefits are included in the salary.  

The position is based in Oslo with travel to Indonesia required. Working permit is necessary and RFN can assist in this process. 

There will be no relocation support to the successful candidate.
