Description

The rainforest is amazing and performs services that the whole world relies on but is threatened from multiple angles. We are looking for a person who wishes to contribute to our important work to influence international decision makers through targeted political communication.

The position is part of our team of 8 people who work in Norway and internationally to influence Norwegian and international politics and will be part of the Policy- and society department with approx. 23 dedicated employees.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Promote protection of rainforest as an important part of the new global on nature
  • Collaborate with international allies and partners on influencing selected decision-makers
  • Contribute to external communication on rainforest and biodiversity
  • Assist with research and production of necessary documentation and information material for advocacy

In addition, all employees contribute to the team's overall work tasks.

Qualifications we look for:

  • You must be convincing and trustworthy, and be good at conveying complicated material to a multitude of different actors, such as decision makers (politicians, private sector, and bureaucrats), media and partners internationally and in rainforest countries
  • Experience from international advocacy. Insights into international environmental and development policy, international policy on biodiversity and ecosystem services is an advantage.
  • The Rainforest Foundation Norway is a rights-based organization, which means that knowledge about indigenous and / or local communities' protection and management of natural resources is an advantage
  • Good language skills in English, written and oral. Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, French and / or Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage, but no prerequisite for applying
  • You should be self-motivated and proactive
