Description

At Natural England, we advise the UK Government on the natural environment. We’re here to make sure people and nature can thrive. From advising farmers on sustainable land management, to gathering and analysing environmental data, and promoting health and wellbeing through the great outdoors, we love what we do. Join us and you’ll be part of an inclusive, motivated and ambitious team, committed to achieving results for our environment, for everyone.

If you’re passionate about progressing sustainable development and nature recovery, this is your chance to make a real contribution to policy and practice in one of a wide range of Adviser roles across England. Depending on which team you join, you could find yourself involved in helping farmers to reduce pollution and increase biodiversity; protecting habitats from development or industry; providing licensing advice to protect vulnerable species; or working with partners to improve the quality of the marine environment.  You might also act as first point of contact to answer queries from the public and our partners, or gather and analyse vital business intelligence to support decisions.

We’re looking for people who have relevant knowledge or experience in an environmental, legislative or policy field and who understand Natural England’s important role. Your background should include providing advice to customers and stakeholders, working within policy guidelines, and conveying complex messages to diverse audiences, both in person and in writing. Highly organised, with good team-working skills, you’ll be capable of meeting targets within a fast-paced environment.

We welcome and encourage applications from all communities and, wherever possible, we accommodate requests for both full and part-time hours and other flexible working patterns. Everyone at Natural England is supported to develop their skills and capabilities. You can also look forward to great benefits including a Civil Service pension.

If you’re inspired to protect and enhance England’s wildlife, and want to work for a leading science-led organisation, apply here.
