The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide centralized database support for NCC’s Prospect Research, Prospect Management and Major Gift programs. You will enter vital donor and prospect information into our fundraising database and assist staff to access and organize this data in order to effectively manage their donors and prospects. To be successful in this role you are not only experienced with data entry but you are also client service oriented, and an excellent communicator, curious about the world around you, particularly as it pertains to major gift fundraising.

Reporting Relationships

The Advancement Officer will report directly to the National Manager, Research and Prospect Management and will work closely with a prospect researcher, the database administrator, the strategic philanthropy team and fundraisers in each of NCC's regions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and update major gift donor and prospect records in our Raiser’s Edge database
  • Add research reports to records and update them with researched information
  • Import and add lists of records to Raiser’s Edge in support of the regional major gift programs
  • Generate and run queries and reports from Raiser’s Edge to support the major gift program, both regionally and for the strategic philanthropy team in our National office
  • Oversee NCC’s prospect clearance system
  • Assist with reactive and proactive prospect research
  • Distribute and file periodicals
  • Perform additional administrative and data entry duties as required

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Experienced with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM data base
  • Fundraising experience and knowledge about prospect management preferred
  • Scrupulous attention to detail
  • Extremely client service oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and manage timelines, goals and expectations wisely
  • Independent worker who can also interact collegially with a geographically diverse client base
  • Knowledge about and an interest in the Canadian and US corporate worlds, high net worth individuals, grant giving organizations and philanthropy in general
  • Some experience with online research would be an advantage
  • Undergraduate degree preferred, combined with at least two years of database experience
  • Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Commitment to the core values and mission statement of NCC
